WESTFORD CENTER — A new traffic pattern will take effect at the intersection of Plain Road and Nutting Road beginning Tuesday, May 26, as part of the ongoing Plain Road Sidewalk Project aimed at improving safety for pedestrians and drivers.
The updated design will convert the north leg of the intersection into a one-way lane for vehicles traveling from Plain Road onto westbound Nutting Road. Drivers on Nutting Road approaching Plain Road will be required to keep right of the traffic island and come to a full stop before turning either left or right onto Plain Road.
Westbound drivers on Plain Road will still be able to turn right onto Nutting Road using the new one-way lane, but must yield to vehicles already traveling on Nutting Road.
In a news release, town officials note that new signage and pavement markings will be installed to guide drivers through the updated configuration. Motorists are urged to reduce speeds, follow posted signs, and use extra caution as the community adjusts to the changes.
