Westford’s Economic Development Committee gathered recently for its monthly meeting.
The charge of the Economic Development Committee is to advise the Board of Selectmen and other town boards on issues concerning bylaws, policies, regulations, and zoning that foster commercial growth, strengthen the local economy, and are consistent with maintaining the character of the community.
Town Manager Kristen Las began the meeting by formally informing the Committee of her resignation. Las, who first announced her departure in a Select Board Meeting in July, will be taking on a position in the Shrewsbury’s Town Government.
Troast Advisory Services Discuss Social Media Strategies
Since 2025, the Economic Development Committee has partnered with Troast Advisory Services to help provide a strategic roadmap for promoting business and economic growth.
Representing the advisory group, Jack Troast and Mary-Lynne Bohn appeared before the committee to provide an update on plans for an increased social media presence. The pair outlined how other towns are leveraging social media and content creation to drive interest and engagement with local businesses.
The committee will continue to explore these options as they look toward the 2027Fiscal Year.

Bruce Rosenberg Work Group. The program aims to provide insights into the community side of businesses in Westford. EDC Vice Chair Rosenberg announced that he had revised the questionnaire, and was planning to launch the initiative next month.
Updates on the Westford Business Association (WBA) were provided by Patti Mason.
The WBA works with the Economic Development Committee to represent member businesses in policies that affect the local business climate. Mason stated that membership is growing steadily, and announced plans for an upcoming podcast on local business.
