The Westford Friends of the East Boston Camps recently held their annual Fall BBQ Festival to support the East Boston Camps (EBC).
The EBC property was acquired by the Town of Westford in 2004 as a natural asset for use by the citizens of the town. The pristine great pond and surrounding campground sit on a 286 acre parcel and formerly served as a rural getaway for the children of East Boston.
The Friends of EBC are a nonprofit organization whose mission is supporting the conservation, maintenance and improvement of the historic East Boston Camps property for environmental, outdoor recreational and educational purposes.
As part of the fundraising effort to support the property, the Friends of EBC held a silent auction. In addition, the free event open to the public featured hay rides, apple bobbing, nature walks, face and pumpkin painting, as well as free hamburgers and hot dogs and ice cream from Kimball’s.
Pictured working on the grill are Selectman Kelly Ross, State Representative James Arciero, Former Westford Fire Chief Richard Rochon and Westford Highway Superintendent Richard “Chip” Barrett.
