School News: Souper Bowl, Bingo For Books And 1,843 Pounds Of Recycled Paper

Nabnasset Elementary School News
Second grade recyclers continue to take turns collecting and weighing the paper in nearly 35 recycling bins at the Nabnasset Elementary School. .  The grand totals are impressive:
        *  Nab students have recycled 1,843 pounds of paper for January
        *  Nab. Students  have saved 15 trees.
Nab’s Catie’s Closet clothing drive continues until February 26th.  So far, Nab have collected 2 boxes of gently used or new clothes for children throughout the Merrimack Valley.

Westford Academy News 

WATA performed  performances of (Proof- directed by Denis Canty) in the Performing Arts Center (show time 7:30 PM) over the January 28th weekend.  Proof  students stared _Stephanie Miller as Catherine; Olivia Overington as Claire;Marco Liguori as Robert; Callan Rendall & Coleman Gilbert as Hal;; Gillian Limbert as the Assistant Director; and Keely Craig as the Stage Manager
All proceeds from the Friday evening performance of Proof will be donated to the “Throwback Teen Center” that was held on Friday, January 29 too.  The WA Student Council sponsored a sold out crowd Activities night –  “Throwback Teen Center” to support Matt Roberge (a sophomore student battling leukemia) on Friday, January 29 7 at Westford Academy .
SSPA OPEN HOUSE – The Summer School for the Performing Arts OPEN HOUSE will be held on February 3, 2016 at 7:30 PM in the Westford Academy Performing Arts Center.  Join us for an informal meet and greet where we will introduce our NEW programs and initiatives for our upcoming eleventh season!  SSPA offers tracks of exploration and exercise in Musical Theater, Dramatic Acting, Technical Theater and Playwriting-all of which culminate in a realized product that gives our students an understanding of the tremendous power of their voice and the beauty of their art. Register during Open House with a $200 deposit and receive 10% off of your 2016 tuition.

Blanchard Middle School News 

Mrs. Leone’s seventh grade Guidance classes finished a  stress management unit with a little bit of healthy competition. To showcase and share their learning with classmates, students created posters to highlight different strategies teenagers can use to cope with stress in healthy ways. The first place winners of the poster competition, created by Casey Fairchild and Audrey Bruskiewitz.

Miller Elementary School News

Bingo for Books for pre-first and first grade students was held on Wednesday, January 26 at Miller School It is one of  favorite evenings for all all the children and families  that attend. All the children  are excited to share their knowledge of the first grade sight words. Thank you to Mrs. Burke for helping to run the event.
Miller Elementary School Town Meeting was held on Friday, January 29. As part of the event the  Principals of the Morning for February will be Haniel Park, Maya Hayes and Olivia Pillsbury.  Mr. Sardella and Ms Pobuk read aloud the book, I’m New Here, by Anne Sibley O’Brien. The book explores themes of acceptance and introduces characters from several different countries.
Crisafulli Elementary School News 
It is a “Souper” Bowl at JAC!
Crisafulli will be collecting cans of soup and give donations to the Westford Food Pantry. Students will the tally the number of soup cans that Crisafulli collects and will donate to the food pantry from Feb. 1 – Feb 5th.  Through this experience, students learn the power of working together and to make a difference in the lives of others.
