The following is a letter to the editor submitted by Wayne Wagner. Letters to the editor do not necessarily reflect the views of WestfordCAT, or its Board of Directors.
When it comes to the role of Selectman, I want someone who can meet challenges with a steady hand, and who can look at all options before leaping to a decision. Many people will have different views and opinions, and I trust that Scott listens to, and fully considers, his constituents’ ideas and perspectives before moving forward on an issue.
Another quality that is important for Selectmen is the capability to treat everyone with dignity and respect. It may be fashionable of late to blame others and call people names, but that is not tantamount to effective leadership. Scott takes responsibility for his decisions and his actions. He weighs issues carefully, and he consistently responds to individuals’ concerns in a manner that is both respectful and timely.
When I go to vote on May 3, I am not so much guided by one “hot topic” or another; rather, I am moving forward with the knowledge that Scott has consistently earned my trust, and that he is the right person to carry out the duties of a Selectman. Simply put, Scott Hazelton is the right person for this job.
