J.V. Fletcher Library-Author Talk and Signing: Colonel Wolfgang W.E. Samuel: Thursday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m.:

Wolfgang E. Samuel served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, flew strategic reconnaissance, against the Soviet Union in the Cold War years, and combat against North Vietnam. Samuel was awarded the Distinquished Flying Cross three times and numerous Air Medals.  After retiring from the Air Force in the rank of Colonel he worked for a defense contractor in the Washington area; he then retired again to write German Boy: A Regfugee’s Story which was introduced by Stephen Ambrose and received a very favorable review from the New York Times.  German Boy is Wolfgang’s story of survival in WWII Germany.”  Samuel is the author of several other books including: I Always Wanted to Fly:America’s Coldwar Airmen, The War of Our Childhood:Memories of World War II, American Raiders: The Race to Capture the Luftwaffe’s Secrets, Glory Days:the Untold Story of the Men Who Flew the B-66 Destroyer Into the Face of Fear, Watson’s Whizzer’s: Operation Lusty and the Race for the Nazi Aviation Technology, and In Defense of Freedom.
