Rosemary’s Baby Blues, Rock/Blues Show, Nov. 12, 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.) Rosemary’s Baby Blues is a high energy rockin’ R&B/Blues Band that keeps you moving and grooving all night long. The group’s music ranges from Delbert McClinton and JD McPherson to Freddy King, Little Feat and Muddy Waters. Consistently rocking the New England music scene since 2009, this group of seasoned musicians continues to build its fan base at clubs and festivals. Afternoon Barn Dance Sunday, Nov. 13, 3 – 5 p.m. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled afternoon of dancing and music in a friendly, informal atmosphere. No experience necessary. Fee: $5 adults, $3 kids, maximum $15 per family
Open Mic Night Sunday, Nov. 13, 6:30 p.m. Join us for regular Open Mic Nights on the second and fourth Sunday of the month. Share a song, tune or poem with a roomful of supportive listeners. If you’ve never played in front of an audience before, this is a great place to start. If you’re an old hand at performing, it’s a great place to meet others and share your talents with new performers. A professional or semi-professional act is featured at each open stage around 9 pm. $5 cover.
Jazz Series, Cassandre McKinley Trio Saturday, Nov. 19, 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) Powerhouse vocalist Cassandre McKinley opens the season for The PCA Jazz Series backed by a formidable team of jazz greats: Tim Ray (piano), Bob Nieske (bass), Dave Mattacks (drums). Cassandre has a vocal style that walks the line between jazz and soul – a voice that is commanding, vibrant and rich with “chops” to spare. She has shared the stage and recorded with greats such as Dick Johnson (Artie Shaw Orchestra), Clay Osborne, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, Jay Geils, Fred Lipsius (Blood, Sweat and Tears), Jerry Portnoy (Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters), the legendary Herb Pomeroy and others. Piano Heritage Series, Diane Walsh Sunday, Nov. 20, 3:15 p.m. pre-concert talk / 4 p.m. concert
Before and After Beethoven: Influences and Legacy An esteemed artist of distinction, the American pianist Diane Walsh is regularly heard on disc and in recital, chamber music and concerto performances throughout the world. In addition to possessing a vast and varied repertoire, ranging from Bach to Bolcom, her recent work on the theatre stage has brought wider recognition of her superlative musical gifts. Ms. Walsh joined the cast of 33 Variations in which she performed in numerous productions of the award-winning play by Kaufman at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC, on Broadway in New York City, and at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. In The Gallery Sundays in November, 12 – 2 p.m. Trina Teele, “Nautical Whispers” Free and open to the public! Local artist, Trina Teele brings her work to the PCA gallery in November. Growing up in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Trina spent summers in Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Long Island, NY. The rhythm of the ocean has been a central theme in her life. For the past 2 years Trina has felt called to paint seascapes including many boats and sailboats. Inspired by her maritime childhood and driven by an enduring love for the sea, the artist created this exhibit of over 40 paintings.
