As Christians celebrated Christmas on Dec. 25, Jews observed Chanuka. The two holidays were perfectly aligned to fall on the same day this year, bringing Jews to Westford’s town Common on Sunday where Rabbi Zalman Gurow, of Chabad of Nashoba Valley, lit the Menorah and led attendees in song.

The date for Chanukah is determined by the lunar cycle and can fall between Nov. 28 and Dec. 16. It begins on the 25th day of the Jewish month of Kislev, according to Chabad.org.
