In Observance of Memorial Day the Library will be closed on Saturday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, May 30 at 10 a.m.

On Thursday, May 18 the Library debuts its new online catalog. Why the change? Libraries are increasingly dependent on computers and are cognizant that they need to keep pace with the technology advancements used by their patrons. As a result, MVLC is upgrading their central library software – that services its 36 Public Library members – to a system that has the resources and a company that has a development plan to support current trends. New features that will undoubtedly be popular include: user-friendly search functions that allow for misspellings or punctuation errors; enhanced searching tools; online displays of new and popular materials; the ability to read the catalog in English, Spanish or Chinese; secure online payment processing with credit or debit cards and the time saving choice to download eBooks and eAudiobooks to your devices without having to exit the Catalog.

NEW SERVICE! The next time you visit the Library and you would like to charge your phone or electronic device, look for one of our two new courtesy charging stations; we have one in the Periodicals area and another in the Children’s Room. Each charging station can accommodate up to 8 Android or Apple devices.

The Westford Seed Library: T’is the season for seeds! The Westford Seed Library is stored in a card catalogue on the ground floor of the Library (in the hallway leading to the elevator.) The seeds (dried and storage ready) are donated by members of the community and have been harvested from plants which they have grown themselves. Patrons may “borrow” seeds with the expectation that they will return seeds – to the Seed Library – harvested from the plants that they grew from the seeds they initially “borrowed.” The Westford Seed Library is maintained by the Westford Agricultural Commission and the J. V. Fletcher Library.
