State Rep. James Arciero recently attended the Eagle Scout induction ceremonies for Ryan W. Harm and Jeffrey M. Wong of Westford Troop 159.
Harm and Wong both received the Eagle Scout badge, the highest award given in scouting, at a ceremony held at First Parish Church in Westford.
To achieve the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn at least 21 merit badges in a number of different areas ranging from government to recreational activities. In addition, Eagle Scout candidates must plan and complete an extensive Eagle Scout project which usually consists of coordinating the materials, manpower and cooperation of many individuals to achieve the objective of the project.
Such projects usually benefit community groups or civic organizations and represent service to society as well as a demonstration of the leadership ability of an Eagle Scout candidate.
As part of the ceremony, state Rep. James Arciero, who is also an Eagle Scout, presented Harm and Wong with official citations from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to mark the special occasion.
