In Observance of Patriot’s Day the Library will be closed on Monday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The library will re-open on Tuesday, April 17 at 10 a.m.

Teens and Tween Make & Take Monday: April 9 at 3:30 p.m. Imagine, create, and participate!  Each Monday teens will participate in a variety of hands-on activities that will include making fun, seasonal crafts, exploring STEAM activities, and/or creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces.  All materials will be provided at the program in the Library’s Meeting Room.  This is a free, drop-in event. Registration not required.

Bimonthly Knitting Group: Mon., April 9 at 3 p.m. and Monday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m.  Residents can drop in to the informal knitting group. which meets the second Monday of the month from 3-5 p.m. and the fourth Monday of the month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is open to all ages.

J.V. Fletcher Adult Book Discussion Group: Thurs., April 12 at 7:30 p.m. Please join us to discuss “Lilac Girls” by Martha Hall Kelly.  Copies of the current reading selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New members are always welcome. No registration required.

 Peeps Diorama Competition: Tuesday, April 17 at 1 p.m. Teen & Tween participants will work together in groups of two or three and create a Peeps Diorama (or scene).  Prizes will be awarded for the top three dioramas and all materials will be provided.  Registration is required for this free program. Teens and tweens in grades five to 12 can register online, by phone, or in person.

Reptiles Rock: Wednesday, April 18 at 11 a.m. Get up close with a variety of amphibian creatures. This program will feature a petting zoo with smaller animals and a special presentation featuring four larger animals, including a very large snake and an American alligator. This free program is funded by the KDK Memorial Foundation (in honor of Kurt Kelly). Free tickets for children ages 5 and up with their caregivers will be available for pick up in the Children’s Department starting Monday, April 2.

Stuffed Animal Spa: Thursday, April 19 at 11 a.m.  Residents can bring their favorite stuffed animal to this drop-in program for a very special spa day that includes a checkup station, a spa treatment, pictures, and a craft project. A Lowell Humane Society representative will tell attendees all about collars, micro chipping a pet, what to do if a pet goes missing, or if someone finds a lost pet. This free drop-in family program is funded by the Friends of the J. V. Fletcher Library.

Food Art Competition: Wednesday, April 19 at 1 p.m.  Teen & Tween participants will work on individual Food Art scenes and sculptures. Prizes will be awarded for the top three dioramas and all materials will be provided. Registration is required for this free program. Teens and tweens in grades five to 12 can register online, by phone, or in person.

Planning for April School Vacation? The Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library provide residents with museum passes to 23 venues. Residents are asked to book early to receive discount or free admission to great, kid friendly sites. Many seasonal venues will be open and special programs are provided during school vacation week. Reservations are now being accepted via our website at www.westfordlibrary.org or call the Fine Arts department at 978-399-2303.
