For the past six months, Westford’s curbside recycling company has been Waste Management. As this new vendor learns about our town, we continue to work with them to improve service to our residents.
Earlier this month, there was a planning meeting at Town Hall with representatives from Houston-based Waste Management, the town manager’s office, and the Recycling Commission. The meeting was very productive and many process hiccups and communication issues were resolved, with process steps clarified for the future.
Here are some recycling reminders as a follow up to this meeting:
- If residents have a missed recycling pickup, they should call the Waste Management call center at: 800-972-4545. They should be sure to provide clear information – that they are a Westford resident and are calling about recycling, not trash. Waste Management does both.
- Drivers are beginning to leave rejection stickers on unacceptable recycling set out curbside. The sticker will indicate what the problem was. Â If recycling is stickered, it will be picked up on the next scheduled pickup date, if the problem has been rectified.
- Cardboard may be set out beside recycling toters. It should cut into 3foot by 3-foot pieces and bundled, either with tape or twine, so our Westford winds don’t blow it down the street.
General questions on recycling should go to recycling volunteer Andy Bergamini, at 978.692-1582.
