WESTFORD — Welcome to the Dec. 11 edition of Weekend Wrap-Up. Here, we highlight the most important news you may have missed this week in Westford.
Minor snowfall expected in Westford this weekend
A slight chance non-accumulating of snow is possible on Saturday night. Accumulating snow is expected late Sunday through the Monday morning commute.
Westford is expected to receive a trace to 1 inch of total snow accumulation. Heaviest snowfall will be present in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut.
The National Weather Service notes an additional storm may impact the region next Thursday.
Santa is touring Westford this weekend, among other holiday events
Festival of Trees
Where: Westford Regency Inn atrium and lobby
When: Dec. 9 to Dec. 31.
Cost: Free
What: The Westford Family FunFest invites the public and organizations to participate and visit the 12 Annual Festival of Trees, Wreaths and Creative Holiday Gingerbread/Gnomes Celebration. The Westford Regency Atrium and Lobby and selected other areas will be decorated with trees, wreaths, and creative holiday and gingerbread/gnome creations.
Dining for a Cause
Where: Evviva Trattoria
When: Dec. 15
Cost: Free
What: Team Forever young is holding annual Holiday Dining for a cause. This year we are going to still support Sun Santa, however we will also be donating to Westford Remembers.
A Charlie Brown Christmas – Jazz Trio
Where: Parish Center for the Arts
When: Dec. 17 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Cost: Advance ticket sales range between $15 and $0.
What: Our annual tradition continues this year with live jazz music from a holiday classic! 4:30 p.m. – Family set features music from A Charlie Brown Christmas (approximately 45 minutes). Doors open at 4 p.m. 7:30 p.m. – Longer evening set features additional holiday and/or original compositions.
Brunch with Santa
Where: Westford Regency
When: Dec. 17 and Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What: Join us for Brunch with Santa & Our Festival of Trees!
Westford selects new Town Manager
Kristen Las has been selected as Westford’s next Town Manager.
Current position: Assistant Town Manager for Shrewsbury.
Education: Master of Arts in Community Development and Planning, Bachelor’s of Science in Geography – Urban and Regional.
Previous positions: Town Planner and Economic Development Coordinator for Shrewsbury, Lecturer at Clark University.
Residents, Select Board hesitant to support Carlisle Road dog park proposal
A proposed dog park in Westford – which has been planned for over six years – has selected a potential parcel of land for the facility.
“We’ve been diligently trying to find an appropriate parcel of land to have a one acre to two acre space with a small amount of parking of dogs to be off-leash,” said Dog Park Task Force chair Lauren Coffey in a Nov. 29 Select Board hearing.
Coffey notes the committee, along with the Parks and Recreation Committee, have explored each viable parcel in Westford before selecting an approximately two acre parcel near 108 Carlisle Rd. as a potential site for a future dog park.
“The initial committee looked at every piece of Select Board, town-owned land that existed. They discounted some initially because geographically they weren’t in the best location in terms of equal access and things like that,” Coffey told the Select Board.
Coffey noted that this the “last time” the Dog Park Task Force can move the project forward.
“This isn’t just take a stab and pick a parcel. I am feeling like this is the last one. This will be the last time that the Dog Park Task Force will come before the Select Board with a parcel of land.”
