WESTFORD — The following release was shared with WestfordCAT from the First Parish Church United for publication and distribution.

To the Townspeople of Westford,

As the Co-Chairs of the 47th Annual First Parish Church United’s Strawberries ‘N Arts Festival which was held on the rain date of Sunday, June 18th on the Westford Common, we wanted to share our sincere thanks to the residents of Westford.

We made the tough call to postpone, and it turned out Sunday’s weather was absolutely perfect! Many folks came together on the Common to enjoy the tradition of good food (our rain date amounts sold out quickly), beautifully handcrafted wares of over 80 local artisans, wonderful entertainers, of course strawberry shortcake made with freshly hulled and mashed strawberries.

Of course an event of this size always requires many folks working tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all possible, so we’d especially like to thank the volunteers and Town Departments whose efforts made the day such a success:  First, the Selectboard for giving FPCU permission to use the Common, Michelle Collett, Jon Revis and the Westford Parks & Recreation Department for preparing the Common’s grounds, and providing the recycling bins, the Westford Police Department for providing a safety plan, Meghan O’Neil and the Board of Health for coordinating with our food vendors, and the Westford DPW for hanging our banner.

Then there are all the 100+ volunteers including 4-H Middlesex members, the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, the townspeople, and the congregation of FPCU itself. We would also like to thank Westford’s own Hubba’s BBQ for their incredibly succulent pulled pork sandwiches. A special thanks to the Westford Cultural Council for joining this festival year with grant support.

Thanks to the PCA and the Westford Museum for opening their doors during the event. Lastly, we want to thank Market Basket of Westford for partnering with us in providing this year’s delicious shortcake.

Without the volunteers listed above and the support of the town and beyond, the Strawberries ‘N Art Festival would not be possible. Thank you to everyone who joined in, patrons and volunteers alike, and we hope to see you all on the Common again on Saturday, June 15, 2024!

Sincerely,

Jessica Anderson & Ellen Martins

Co-Chairs, Westford Strawberries ‘N Arts Festival
