WESTFORD — The following release was shared by Westford Museum Director Linda Greene for publication through WestfordCAT.

Through History, Westford Women have been Legendary, every woman has a story to tell and gifts to share with the world.

Join us and entice your curiosity and dazzle your palate for an evening of Storytelling with wine and food appetizers with Wild Women of Westford, Friday Aug. 25, 2023 @7:30pm. Westford Museum, 2 Boston Road, Westford, MA.

This year, the Westford Museum and Historical Society will acknowledge five of the heroic women of Westford’s past, who despite many challenges, followed their own path through life.

With assistance from the Westford Museum’s Westford Women Dolls collection, through the voices of our presenters, you’ll be able to hear how the lives of our “Wild Women of Westford”; Peggy, a Westford slave, Mary Atwood, a traveler and large contributor to the J.V. Fletcher Library, Emily Fletcher, Westford’s first woman botanist, Dr. Nettie Stevens who made groundbreaking discovery in the existence of XX and XY chromosomes and Lucy Prescott, she was an eldress in the Shaker Ministry.

You will enjoy samplings from Westford Businesses: Winemaker Noel Powell of Aaronap Cellars paired with amazing culinary appetizers of Samantha and Gabriel from Classic Kitchen Café . (Non-alcoholic beverages are also available)

We will be recognizing Westford Town Historian and Former Director of the Westford Museum, Marilyn Day, as our present-day “Wild” Westford Woman. Marilyn is the author of many Westford History books such as “Westford Days”, “Littleton Road, Four Miles of History”, “The History of Westford Town Farm”, and “Caring for a Town, the Physicians of Westford”.  Marilyn is committed to preserving our town’s history.

The evening’s sponsor is Northern Bank of Westford. Tickets are limited and available at the Westford Museum, Sundays 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. or online at www.museum.westford.org (Tickets must be purchased in advance, no tickets at the door)
