WESTFORD — The annual memorial service to honor lives lost on 9/11 was hosted by town officials and first responders in Westford, commemorating the 22 years that have passed since the attack.
Two Westford residents, Susan MacKay, 44, and James Hayden, 47, died in the attacks. The two were on separate flights that departed Logan Airport on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.
MacKay was aboard American Airlines Flight 11, which crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. A Westford Academy scholarship was created in her name.
Hayden was aboard United Airlines Flight 175, which crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
