WESTFORD — The following release was shared by the Office of the Town Manager for publication and distribution.

The town of Westford has entered a new contract for solid waste (trash) collection only with E.L. Harvey Waste and Recycling Services, based in Westborough, MA. Service will begin on Monday, February 5th. E.L. Harvey will replace Acme Waste which has been the town’s trash hauler since 1989.

Waste Management will continue to collect curbside recycling until we begin a new contract with E.L. Harvey for both solid waste and recycling on July 1, 2024.

The next few weeks will be a period of transition, where new drivers will be learning their routes. Residential collection days will remain the same, but collection times may vary. Please continue to have all solid waste and recycling curbside by 7:00AM and be reminded of limit of 3-32 gallon barrels. Bulk item collection will not change at this time, but click here for a reminder on that process.

If your residence is missed, please call E.L Harvey’s customer service line at 800-321- 3002. If your issue is not resolved within one business day, you may reach out to the Town Manager’s Office at 978-692-5501 for additional assistance.

The contract extension with EL Harvey came on short notice due to unforeseen circumstances with Acme Waste. Please be aware that the collection trucks will not display E.L. Harvey lettering, as they are being leased from a third-party source. Trucks will have a USDOT number listed on the side and will be driven by E.L. Harvey employed drivers.

We are hopeful for a smooth transition and look forward to working with our new vendor moving forward.
