WESTFORD — Here’s the March 5 edition of Wednesday Whiteboard, where WestfordCAT highlights important dates and events during the week in and around Westford.

News and events around town

Primary results are now available. Check out results for the Democratic, Republican and Libertarian party primaries.

The Westford Police Department received a $1,702.99 state grant to purchase an automatic external defibrillator.

Bootstrap Compost has over 100 residents enrolled in Westford so far. Residents will receive an additional $1 discount if 120 residents sign up.

Register for a plot at the Westford Community Gardens by March 15.

A property tax and relief presentation will be hosted at the Cameron Senior Center on March 7 at 12:30 p.m. RSVP at 978-692-5523.

A fundraiser will be hosted by the Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library Foundation, which asks 1,000 Westford households to donate $1,000 over three years to help fund the J.V. Fletcher Library expansion project.

A literacy night will be held on April 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Crisafulli Elementary School. RSVP online.

From Westford Rotary: 

Free seeds are available at the J.V. Fletcher Library in the Rotary’s seed library.

The Westford Rotary will host its first annual Cornhole Tournament on March 10 at 1 p.m.

From the Recreation Department:

The Recreation Department will hold an informational meeting for ‘Heroes of Greece,’ an international education opportunity for students in seventh, eighth and ninth grade.

The meeting will be held on March 11 at 7 p.m.

Free childcare is available for parents who attend Annual Town Meeting. Register by March 21.

From the Health Department and Community Wellness Department:

Community Wellness Assistance is now available for drop-in hours. The Community Wellness Coordinator will be available on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the J.V. Fletcher Library.

Several upcoming wellness events will be hosted in town. Check out our community calendar for more information.

The Health Department still has free COVID tests available. Stop by the department on the second floor in Town Hall to pick one up.

Important municipal dates and election information

Thinking of running for office? Nomination papers can be picked up at the town clerk’s office. The deadline to file is March 19.

Annual Town Meeting is on March 23 at 9 a.m. at Westford Academy. The deadline to register to vote for the meeting is March 13.

The annual town election will be held on May 7 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The deadline to register to vote for this election is April 27.

Government Meetings:

The Blanchard Middle School Advisory Council will meet virtually on March 11 at 2:10 p.m.

The Board of Health will meet virtually on March 11 at 6 p.m.

The Communications Advisory Committee will meet virtually on March 8 at 3 p.m.

The Crisafulli School Advisory Council will meet on March 12 at 4 p.m.

The Miller School Advisory Council will meet virtually on March 13 at 6 p.m.

The Scholarships and Grants Committee will meet virtually on March 7 at 7 p.m.

The School Committee Policy Subcommittee will meet on March 7 at 10:30 a.m.

The Stony Brook School Advisory Council will meet virtually on March 11 at 2:10 p.m.
