WESTFORD — Assistant Director of the J.V. Fletcher Library Kristina Leedberg has shared the most recent edition of “What’s Happening at the Library?”

Director’s Corner – MBLC and Bruins PJ Drive: The J.V. Fletcher Library has once again teamed up with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Boston Bruins to participate in their annual pajama drive to benefit DCF Kids and Cradles to Crayons. The PJ Drive’s goal is to collect new pajamas for children and teens in need.   The PJ Drive runs through March 15. The library will be collecting new pairs of pajamas from size 12 months through adult size medium. The drop off bin is located next to the Main Desk.

YA Book Club: Monday, March 11th at 3pm. Join us in a discussion of I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. Pick up a copy of this month’s book at the library’s Main Desk. Open to anyone in Grades 9 through 12. Snacks are always served, and drop-ins are always welcome! E-mail Jess at jdyment@westfordma.gov with any questions. Register Here.

WCAT News Office Hours: Wednesdays from 10-11 a.m. Managing Editor Ben Domaingue will host drop-in office hours to increase accessibility and availability for residents. Drop by and say hi, or bring your story ideas, questions, comments, or concerns with how news is reported in Westford. No registration is necessary. Changes and cancellations will be announced the prior Friday and posted on our Studio Calendar. 

YA Board Game Night: Thursday, March 14th at 6:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room. BYOG (bring your own game!) to share OR play one of the many games we will have available. We’ll have some favorites: Chess, Exploding Kittens, Apples to Apples, Scrabble, Settlers of Catan, Clue, Sushi Go, Life, and other great games! For 6th grade and up. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Register to receive a reminder. Extra friends and drop-ins are always welcome!

Adult Book Club: Thursday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. Join us in the Mary Atwood Room to discuss First: Sandra Day O’Connor by Evan Thomas. No registration required. Copies are available at the Main Desk and there are downloadable copies (audio and e-copies) available from Overdrive/Libby. Check out our Reading List for 2024.

Ukulele Play Along, Sing Along: Saturday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room.  Join Julie Stepanek and other players for a ukulele play along! A play along is participatory music at its best. Julie will prepare song sheets (lyrics and chords) of songs and lead participants in playing those songs, offering tips and encouragement as we play, sing and have a good time. Ukuleles are provided. If you have your own ukulele, you are welcome to bring it! Register here.

Virtual Job Search Help for 50 & OverResumes – Part 2: Wednesday, March 20, 9:30 -11:30 a.m. The Massachusetts Library Collaborative’s 50+ Job Seekers Group meets on biweekly the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30, via Zoom. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “Encore Career”, this networking group program is perfect for you! Adult Felting: Thursday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room. Do you love felting? Is it something you have wanted to try? Join us as we host Rachel Benson from The Fiber Web as she guides patrons through creating a felt owl! Beginners and advanced levels all accepted. Register here.

Lego Club: Saturday, March 24 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Families are invited to make Lego creations at the library using the library Legos (generously funded by the Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library). Parents and caregivers need to stay and play too – you can participate as long as you are old enough to not eat any Legos. Everyone helps clean up at the end and creations will stay on display in the Children’s Room through the month. Free. No registration required.

Sweet Reads MG Book Club: Tuesday, March 26th at 6:30pm. For Grade 6 and up. Join us in the Meeting Room to discuss some great books and enjoy on-theme desserts. Copies of each month’s book are available at the Main Desk. At our March meeting we will discuss A Duet For Home and enjoy an on-theme dessert.
