Ming Zhang is a volunteer correspondent for WestfordCAT & a candidate in the upcoming State Senate election. This endorsement reflects their personal opinion and not the position of WestfordCAT or The Westford Villager.

Dear Westford Villager Editor,

I am writing to express my strong support for Scott Hazelton as he runs for the one-year seat on the Westford Select Board.

Scott and I both volunteer on the Route 40 Corridor Study Committee, where we’ve had many thoughtful conversations about issues affecting our community. Through these discussions, I’ve come to appreciate his grounded approach to local government.

In one conversation, I shared my intention to run for state senate and the challenges of doing so in today’s politically divided environment. Scott’s response deeply resonated with me – he emphasized that his focus would remain on the everyday lives of the communities, particularly how we can help people navigate the growing affordability crisis. That clarity of purpose is exactly what our town needs.

Scott’s record on the Select Board, including his time as Chair, reflects that commitment. He has helped guide the town through complex budget decisions, supported responsible financial management, and worked collaboratively with colleagues and residents to maintain high-quality services while being mindful of costs. His leadership has contributed to thoughtful long-term planning and a balanced approach to growth and development in Westford.

At a time when experience and level-headed leadership matter, Scott Hazelton brings both. He listens, engages respectfully, and remains focused on practical solutions that benefit the entire community.

I believe Scott Hazelton will continue to serve Westford with integrity and effectiveness, and I encourage fellow residents to support him for the one-year Select Board seat.
