The Nashoba Youth Hockey Association (NYHA) has announced a partnership with the Manchester Monarchs for the 2015-16 season.

Both groups hope the alliance will get more children in northern Massachusetts involved in the sport of hockey.

“Local hockey teams are the lifeblood of our sport,” said Monarchs Youth Hockey Director Matt LaBelle. “This partnership with the NYHA will help grow the sport of hockey and the Monarchs’ fan base in northern Massachusetts.”

The NYHA will kickoff their season with a morning jamboree on Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Olympia Rink in Boxborough.

With the partnership, NHYA players will get to take to the ice before three Monarchs’ games this season.

The Monarchs play at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester,NH and were the Los Angeles Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate until last year. They are now the Kings’ East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate, switching affiliations with the Ontario (CA) Reign, who until last year was the Kings’ ECHL affiliate. Their season will begin on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. against the Brampton Beast.
