In the preamble to the US Constitution, there are three enumerated responsibilities that define the President’s job. He must insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare. .

Our domestic tranquility significantly deteriorated in the wake of the incident in Ferguson Missouri. Since then the far left has tried to incite a race war between our nation’s police and African Americans. President Obama added fuel to this fire by failing to unequivocally condemn acts of violence against our police, and the murder rate in our inner cities. His failure has contributed to an explosion of lawlessness. The rate of homicide among both police officers and African Americans has skyrocketed.

We live under the daily threat of domestic terrorist attack from Islamic extremists. Our President refuses to acknowledge the specific threat posed by radical Islamic ideology. Rather, he addresses the threat, using the vague label of “extremism”. In some of his speeches, he has actually tried to shift the focus toward right wing terror, citing incidents that occurred over fifty years ago in this country.

Our major global adversaries show contempt for us. Russia moved into Crimea, then into the Ukraine risking only token sanctions. Now they have boldly moved into the Middle East to shore up the Assad regime in a provocative affront to US interest. The Chinese Communists are continually provoking confrontations in the Pacific aimed at provoking the US Navy.   In the Middle East, Obama recklessly drew down American troop strength in both Iraq and Afghanistan, which has destabilized the region and led to the rise of ISIS. He entered into a questionable treaty with Iran, an avowed enemy, which may or may not thwart their nuclear weapons ambitions but will pump millions of dollars into their coffers to fuel terrorism around the world.

Our relations with our ally Israel have deteriorated. They find themselves isolated. This isolation gave Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization the nerve to repudiate the Oslo accords, which served as the road map for peace in the region for 22 years.

Our general welfare is deteriorating. Job growth and wages remain stagnant. American business strains under the weight of high taxation and regulation, while Obamacare costs continue to rise. The national debt threatens to crush our long term economic health. Add to this a flood of heroin coming across our unsecured borders, contributing to unprecedented fatalities, the trend can’t get much worse.

President Obama is a subscriber to hard left ideology. He views our nation as the world’s problem. He certainly warned us that he would change the nation and he has. If that change meant becoming more vulnerable, less prosperous and more divided, he did succeed at something. The question we now must ask is whether we will survive the damage which will mark his legacy?
