Author Talk and Signing: Colonel Wolfgang W.E. Samuel: Thursday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m.

: “Wolfgang E. Samuel served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, flew strategic reconnaissance, against the Soviet Union in the Cold War years, and combat against North Vietnam. Samuel was awarded the Distinquished Flying Cross three times and numerous Air Medals.  After retiring from the Air Force in the rank of Colonel he worked for a defense contractor in the Washington area; he then retired again to write German Boy: A Regfugee’s Story which was introduced by Stephen Ambrose and received a very favorable review from the New York Times.  German Boy is Wolfgang’s story of survival in WWII Germany.”  Samuel is the author of several other books including: I Always Wanted to Fly:America’s Coldwar Airmen, The War of Our Childhood:Memories of World War II, American Raiders: The Race to Capture the Luftwaffe’s Secrets, Glory Days:the Untold Story of the Men Who Flew the B-66 Destroyer Into the Face of Fear, Watson’s Whizzer’s: Operation Lusty and the Race for the Nazi Aviation Technology, and In Defense of Freedom.

 

Cookbook Book Club:Rachael Ray 30 Minute Get Real Meals: Tuesday, June 21 at 7 p.m.:  Please join us to discuss the book and sample a recipe or two! Copies of the cookbooks will be available for checkout~at the Main Desk as of May 23. Sustainability Quest: Thursday, June 23 at 7 p.m.: Don Gayla, environmental scientist and author of

Don Galya, environmental scientist and author of~Sustainability Quest: Trying to Live Green, Fight Climate Change, Beat Corporate Brainwashing and Save the Planet, will discuss saving energy, using solar power, consuming less (and reusing and recycling more), walking and biking for transportation, and living green. Open to all ages.

The Library’s Monday Mystery Book Club meets on Monday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. in the Mary Atwood Hall. Drop-in monthly mystery book group meeting, there is no better way to wake up your week than with a rousing book discussion. Copies of each month’s selection are available to be checked out at Main Desk for several weeks before each meeting. Our June selection is “Track of the Cat” by Nevada Barr. Newcomers are always welcome!

NEW!-Knitting Group: Monday, June 27 at 3 p.m. in the Mary Atwood Hall.  Do you enjoy knitting?  Our new informal knitting group will meet the fourth Monday of every month from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. This is a drop-in program that is open to all ages.  Bring your latest project and share advice and socialize with other knitters!  If you have any questions, please call Kristina Leedberg at 978-399-2309.

Caring for Our Own After Death: Reclaiming an Old and Loving Tradition: Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m. For thousands of years families have taken care of their loved ones at home after death. ~It is a choice that is still possible. ~Peg Lorenz, a Home Funeral Educator, will explain the legal facts, the logistical details and describe the enormous personal benefits that come with this profound moment in a family’s life. Drop-in. This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Library.
