As a 23 year Westford resident and a senior citizen I am concerned that the town of Westford is facing significant challenges. The town has to deal with the considerations and impacts of new issues and projects on our Town budget, lifestyles and way of life.  We face decisions associated with the laws and sale of marijuana; the issues associated with Westford land use such as the Drew Farms (also known as Drew Gardens) zoning and use; our schools’ quality; increased effects of the opioid epidemic; and gender identity issues.  We need representation on the Board of Selectmen, who can analyze, identify and propose solutions using the approved governance process and work as the key element on the Westford leadership team to understand and be decisive to meet these challenges.

I have worked with Dennis Galvin and can testify that he has the background, experience and principled leadership character to be a key member of the Board of Selectmen. As a long-time and active Westford resident and a Major in the Massachusetts State Police, Dennis Galvin established a lifelong record of leadership and integrity.  He also had careers as the Director of Security for the State’s Executive Office of Transportation and as a business and project manager in the private sector balancing budgets and transforming organizations into productive, competitive and secure enterprises.

Most importantly Dennis Galvin has dedicated his heart and soul to the town of Westford in its religious, school, extra-curricular activities and notably in town governance.  The Galvins are long-time residents and have four children who enjoyed the benefits of Westford schools. He has been active St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish; he coached Pop Warner Football and served on the Westford Academy Parent Advisory Council.  Concerned about Westford drug problems he was on the Board of Directors for Westford Against Substance Abuse. Dennis is the chairman of the Westford Planning Board and led the analysis and solutions for major Westford projects. Westford citizens regard him as an objective fair and decisive leader, he always struck the right balance between open space preservation and development.

Dennis Galvin, as a selectman, will make a great contribution toward making Westford safer, better and smarter in meeting the challenges we will face in the years ahead.  I encourage Westford citizens to vote in the May elections for Dennis Galvin. — Harry I. (Buzz) Gillogly, III, Patten Road
