The library’s summer programs are funded by the Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library, Inc.

 Mike the Boston Bubble Guy: Friday, July 27 at 2 p.m.  Mike brings bubbles to life using music, choreography, and comedy. Explore science and magic through bubbles in this energetic show. FREE tickets are available in the Children’s room for kids ages 4 and up (with their caregivers). This program is funded by the KDK Foundation (in honor of Kurt Kelly).

Teen & Tween Mixed Media Art Program with Sherry Hoffman: Monday, July 30 at 1 p.m.  Create a mixed media collage masterpiece using musical notation and a selection of other items. This free registration program is for students in grades 5 to 12.  Residents can pre-register on the YA Zone web page or call the Youth Services department at 978-399-2302.

Harry Potter’s Birthday Party: Tuesday, July 31 at 7 p.m.: An evening for the whole family celebrating the birthday of a favorite wizard. The Children’s Librarians will host the annual magical Harry Potter birthday party including new events: a sorting and wand ceremony, a quill craft, Quidditch, and other surprises.  Costumes are strongly suggested. Tickets ($2) for children and adults are available in the Children’s room.

Camp Read A-Lot: Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m.  Sing and dance around the indoor campfire. The program takes place in the Story Hour Room. This free program is for ages 3-7. Parents can pre-register at the Children’s Desk.

Outdoor Family Concert with “Toddlerbilly” musician Matt Heaton: Thursday, Aug. 2 at 11:30 a.m. Matt’s songs are a mix of rockabilly, surf, American roots, and Irish traditional music delivered with a wry sense of humor. Attendees can bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy the fun on the back lawn by the parking lot.  If it rains, attendees should eat before they come. The concert will be held in the Meeting Room. This program is for all ages.

Digital Photography & Video with Your Smart Device: Thursday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. Participants will learn how to take better photos and video with their smartphone or tablet with this interactive class. During this workshop, they will learn why and how people take photos, and how the type of phone used affects how they are edited and stored. Each student will leave the class with a personal photo management plan. Residents can register through the Meeting Room calendar or call the Information Services Department at 978-399-2304. Open to all ages.
