The under-12 Westford-Acton-Boxborough Knights raised their record to 3-0, on Sept. 22, by steamrolling the West Lynn Rams 30-0 in Pop Warner youth football.

The Knights’ quick-hit offensive attack was anchored by linemen Grady Pfefferkorn, Chris Chaisson, Imran Mpanga, Grayson McHargue, Aidan Mulcahey, Jeffrey Wang, and William Burdin. Receivers TJ Kobelski, Kyle Ricci, Sean Raju and Dillon Cotter found endless open space in the West Lynn defense, with Cotter scoring on a 45-yard rainbow pass from Kaden Silton. Kicker Caleb Eckmann added a couple of booming extra-point kicks to cap the scoring.

Running backs Desmond Flumo and Trey Clayton exploited holes in the Rams defense for long gains. Clayton scored on a long run early, Silton later connected with tight end Alex Wilson for a touchdown, and Jack LaFond darted around the right end for a 40-yard touchdown run.

The Knights set the tone early with a defensive series that effectively neutralized the Rams’ antiquated double-wing offense. Linemen Odin Scott, Tony Babineau, Chris Butts, Matt Boucher, and James Proctor used speed and technique to blast through the Rams’ line for multiple sacks and tackles for losses.

When the Rams attempted to run outside, they found Knights linebackers Darius Smith, Connor Cowan, and Matt Marchand. When the Rams tested the inside of the Knights’ defense, linebackers Luke Harrington, Jay Keenan, Ryan Leedberg, Nate Jones, and Tristan Clayton were ready and waiting. Defensive backs Orion Saunders, Anthony Panetta, Will Cronin, and Levi Kruse took away the Rams’ passing game with aggressive coverage.

The Knights face the undefeated Lawrence Hurricanes on Sunday at Leary Field in Acton.
