Two seniors at Nashoba Valley Technical High School are among the five in Massachusetts to be selected for the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Presidential Scholars Program for Career and Technical Education.
Each year, five CTE students in the state are selected, and this year, two of the five — Abigail Cronin and Elliot Gale — are from Nashoba Tech. It’s the first time Nashoba Tech has had a student selected. They are now eligible for the national Presidential Scholars Program.
Each school can nominate one boy and one girl who demonstrate outstanding scholarship and excellence as a member of the school community; leadership; school and community involvement; and may receive discretionary points for extraordinary achievement, heavy work load, family responsibilities or obstacles overcome.
Abigail Cronin, daughter of Peter and Gina Cronin, is a senior from Groton in the Marketing program at Nashoba Tech. She is an Early College student, earning college credits through courses at Nashoba Tech. She works as a teller at the in-school branch of the LowellFive Bank and in the school store, The Viking Village Mall.
She is a high-honors student and recipient of the John & Abigail Adams scholarship, and has been inducted into the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, and was elected president of the Class of 2020. She is a member of DECA and a Freshman Mentor. She is also a student representative to the Nashoba Tech School Committee.
Abigail represented Nashoba Tech as part of  the School-Based Enterprise (Retail) team at the DECA International Career & Development Conference in Orlando, Florida. She has been dancing for 14 years and plans to attend college next year to major in Dance.
Elliot Gale, son of Steve and Edie Gale, is a senior from Chelmsford in the Design &Visual Communications program. He  is an Early College student, earning college credits through courses at Nashoba Tech. He has been inducted into the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, and has qualified to receive the John &Abigail Adams Scholarship. He is ranked in the top 10 percent of the Class of 2020 and placed third in the school’s recent Art Show.
Elliot is quite active in extracurricular activities at Nashoba Tech. He is president and a founding member of both the Outdoors Club and the Digital Media Club, and is a member of the school’s Gender-Sexuality Alliance. He has also used his skills to photograph and create graphic designs for school events.
