WESTFORD — In order to further serve the needs of our community, WestfordCAT is unveiling its new Community Calendar.

Our new Submit Your Announcement page has been updated to include a number of new fields for community event submissions. Below is a screenshot of our website header – which a user should see regardless of what page or article they are viewing.

After clicking “Submit Your Announcement,” users will be greeted with a variety of fields. We ask submissions to include the title of the event, a brief description of the event, the start and end date and times of your event and the location of your event. Users can also include an external link, the cost of the event and an image.

For best results, include a bulletin slide that can run on both the Community Calendar and our channels.

After users submit their event, staff will review your submission. We will follow the same criteria as we do for our bulletin slides:

  • Events must be non-commercial in nature. Any local organization can submit an event or announcement to create awareness for their event or services.
  • Commercial businesses may submit event submissions if their events are of the public interest and benefit. (i.e. if a local business were to host a blood drive or other public interest event).
  • We will moderate spam. Community organizations may submit as many events as they’d like. However, in the spirit of transparency, WestfordCAT does receive a number of spam emails from out-of-state and from fake accounts. This is our way of keeping the calendar relevant to you and to Westford.

Users can view the calendar on the new Events tab at the top of our website. Users can subscribe to the calendar and receive updates to events on their personal devices. You can find this option at the bottom of the events page, it will look like the image below.

Users can opt to add a specific event to their calendar by clicking on the title of the event and then clicking on “Add to Calendar.”  For example – for the event example below, a user would click on the title “The Sounds of Americana at PCA with Trusting Fate.”

After clicking on the title, users will be greeted by the event page. If a user scrolls down, they will find the “Add to Calendar” option. Here they may choose to add this single event to their personal calendar.

As always, if you just want to view the calendar, check out our Events page. You may view the calendar as a list, as a weekly calendar or as a monthly calendar.

I think that covers it. We hope you will take advantage of this new offering for your events and services. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at bdomaingue@westfordcat.org or call our office at 978-692-7152.
