WESTFORD — A failed drainage pipe triggered a sinkhole to open up in Forge Village.

The sinkhole, located near 42 East Prescott St. was discovered on Monday morning by the Department of Public Works.

Repair work will begin on Sept. 12 and is scheduled to continue through Sept. 14., according to a Facebook post from the department.

East Prescott Street between Pleasant Street and Town Farm Road will be closed to traffic between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. except during bus times on Sept. 13.

A detour is planned during work hours, which are scheduled for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
