Tickets for Historic House Tour on Sale Next Week, Delayed Recycling this Week: Wednesday Whiteboard

WESTFORD — Here’s the Nov. 22 edition of Wednesday Whiteboard, where WestfordCAT highlights important dates and events during the week in and around Westford.

News around town

A number of committees have open seats. Apply online.

Back by popular demand, the Westford Historic House Tour will be held on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Westford Academy Holiday Bazaar or the First Parish Church United on Dec. 2. Tickets are $50. Read more about the tour online.

The Department of Land Use Management seeks input on housing needs for residents 55 years or older. Take the survey online or stop by the Land Use Management Department for a hard copy. The survey will close at 12 p.m. on Dec. 4.

Star in the East, a performance by the Community Christmas Chorus will be held on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at 48 Main St. to benefit the Westford Food Pantry.

The Town of Westford has received a total of $440,000 in state grants to redevelop sections of Graniteville, including clean-up at 12 North Main St., to explore off-site sewer options and to conduct a market study of key parcels in the neighborhood.

National Wreaths Across America Day is Dec. 16 at 12 p.m. Residents who want to sponsor a wreath should do so online.

Pictures with Santa will be hosted on Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. Our Holiday Auction begins on Dec. 6 and runs through Dec. 10.

There will be a one-day delay for recycling pick-up on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24.

From the Health Department and Community Wellness Department:

The Health Department is accepting applications for residents to receive $400 per child for the Recreation Department’s after-school program, which began on Aug. 30.

Applications should be emailed to Regional Community Health and Wellness Coordinator Brittany Nash. Applications can also be mailed to Town Hall. Applicants must be Westford residents and be at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Community Wellness Assistance is now available for drop-in hours. Community Wellness Coordinator will be available on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the J.V. Fletcher Library.

The League of Women Voters holiday party will be held on Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Westford Museum.

From Westford Public Schools:

Blanchard Theatre Arts is hosting its winter show, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The show will run on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and on Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

Important municipal dates

A public hearing will be held on Dec. 13 at the Millennium School to discuss Westford’s cable TV offerings as Comcast and Verizon cable contracts are scheduled for renewal.

Government Meetings

The Capital Planning Committee will meet virtually on Nov. 29 at 8:30 a.m.

The Clean Energy and Sustainability Committee will meet virtually on Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

The Community Behavioral and Mental Health Committee will meet on Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. A virtual option is available.

The Conservation Commission will meet on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.

The Select Board will meet on Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. A virtual option is available.
