Eleven-year-old Tobias was found wandering the streets of Auburn, and taken in by the Lowell Humane Society in May. When his owner(s) could not be located, this silvery-grey, male cat was featured on WestfordCAT’s Adoptable Pet of the Week in June. Within days of the feature airing on the shelter’s Facebook page, some of the people who saw the video contacted the shelter and said that Tobias was actually their cat that had gone missing seven years ago.

“They saw him and immediately recognized him despite all of that time,” said the Lowell Humane Society’s Communications and Fundraising Manager, Crystal Arnott. “We vet people pretty well to be sure it’s the same pet because we don’t want to accidentally give a pet to the wrong family.”
