As the number of COVID cases rise across the country, the state, and in Westford, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, according to Westford Health Director Jeff Stephens. The first batch of vaccines are currently in storage, secured, and set to be administered beginning Tuesday, January 12.

“So currently Westford is in collaboration with Tyngsboro, Tewksbury, Billerica, Dracut, and Chelmsford and we are running the First Responders Clinics for all of our police, fire, and vaccinators, ” said Stephens. “They are being sent links to register for that clinic and it is being done if 15 minute increments.”

Stephens said that he expects approximately 800 people to be vaccinated during the first phase of the vaccination process. Health care workers that are not already COVID-facing healthcare workers will be next. The clinic will be held at the Chelmsford Senior Center and only those that have been sent a link to register will be eligible for the vaccine.

Stephens urges residents to check in regularly to the Westford Health Department’s website at https://www.westfordma.gov/1277/COVID-19 for updates on when they can be vaccinated.
