Cambridge Construction Site Turns Deadly for Middle-aged Man

A 56-year-old man was killed on March 3 while working on a construction site in Cambridge.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan distributed a statement today, about the tragedy.

“Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office were notified by Cambridge Police of a fatal incident involving a construction worker that occurred at First Street Garage in East Cambridge,” she stated in her notice.

The Cambridge Fire and Police Departments were notified.

The man had been working on the restoration of a stairwell when it collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A 41-year-old man was critically injured in the collapse and landed in a nearby hospital.

This case has been referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will determine the cause of death, Ryan stated.
