The following information came from the Westford Police Department. Anyone arrested is considered innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.

July 20, 1:46 p.m. – An officer was dispatched to Marshall’s Home Goods at Cornerstone Square for reports of shoplifting.

Upon arrival, the officer met with a security guard who had the suspect in a security room. He indicated that the store wanted to press charges on the woman alleged to be shoplifting.

According to the guard, the woman purchased $155.89 in merchandise but tried to conceal $125.95 in her pocketbook.

The woman was cooperative and said she was unemployed due to a foot injury and that she was just trying to make ends meet.

A search revealed that the woman had also been accused of shoplifting in Framingham for an array of items worth over $100 in November 2015.

July 21, 11:05 a.m. – One person talked to police about a disputed bill at Bamboo several days earlier. No additional information was provided.

July 21, 8:14 p.m. – An officer was dispatched to Sally’s Beauty Supply at Cornerstone Square after reports of shoplifting.

There, a clerk told the officer that she noticed two women walk into the store and separate, walking to the back of the store. One was older, the other was in her late twenties.

The clerk observed one woman taking items with approximately $280. The other woman purchased an item worth $2. Both then left the store.

However, the clerk followed the women out of the store and wrote down their license plate number.

After a search, an officer in Acton found the women, where they were questioned. One of the women said they were at the store, but did not admit shoplifting. Over the next several hours, police asked additional questions of both the women and the clerk.

Two days later, a Westford detective re-interviewed one of the women about a comment she had made saying that the other woman “played her.”

Based upon the facts and circumstances of the case, both women were given a summons to appear at the Ayer District Court for criminal offenses.

Sept. 2, 5:45 p.m. – Maria Andrews, 32, of 11 Church Ln. in Burlington and Nicole Johnson, 40, of Mill Road in Chelmsford  were arrested following an alleged shoplifting incident on Littleton Road.

Andrews was charged with alleged shoplifting by concealing merchandise and Johnson was charged with alleged possession of a class B and class E drug.
